Hot Chocolate!!!

I've been wanting to write this one for nearly a millennium now! Hot chocolate is that fancy bakery which popped up all of a sudden on Avinashi road, Coimbatore somewhere in Mid 2007. They started of with pastries and cakes and pretty soon expanded into quite literally a complete restaurant! For chocolate lovers, this place is quite a treat I'd say. Must tries include, the Chocolate cheese cake, Double chocolate mousse, Chocolate foxy rock, American brownie etc. If you dont mind a really sweet cake that is quite filling, try the chocolate- Coffee roulade or the butterscotch roulade. My mom complained that it was too sweet, but hey, I liked it. The cakes are somewhat priced in the higher range starting from Rs35 and going on to Rs90 odd. SO if you want to buy a birthday cake be prepared to shell out anywhere between Rs600 - Rs1000 and beyond. One thing i really like on the menu is the Chicken Herb pie priced at Rs35. It tastes good with a mild herb flavoured filling and a great snack when taken warm.

The restaurant menu is ok too though its not exactly one of my favourites. The Lasagne was initially priced around Rs90 and was a great buy then. But now it breaches Rs 160 for a chicken Lasagne which on the face of it seems a little over priced, but hey, its surely worth it for at least one try! Other items that you can give a shot would be the wraps and Pizzas too though, they aren't exactly fascinating and make you want to come back for more, they will at least give you the satisfaction of having eaten something of great taste and value! All in all, Hot Chocolate is one must visit place in Coimbatore!!! I seem to have lost the pic I had of the place, which has a mild ambience pretty much like any other cake shop/ restaurant. Nothing fancy to mention there!

The Cheesecake factory

The famous “Cheesecake Factory” comes to the minds of those who watch “The Big Bang Theory”, a TV Show! Of course, Penny the gorgeous blonde from the show works there!

That being the only reason, I strolled into the Cheesecake factory at the Galleria Mall at Houston, Texas. This is not a place for regular McDonalds/Subway goers. What I mean is that it’s a tad more expensive. Believe me when I say ‘You get for what you pay’. It is a fully blown restaurant mostly of two floors with a well decorated place with not just a bakery but a BAR as well. The Menu runs for pages after pages… Take a look at it yourself…!

"The Huge Menu"

I cannot comment on the Food or the Bar here because I ordered only desserts! Of course! Because it is after all The Cheesecake Factory! You would not believe the variety of cheesecakes they have on the menu! Let me make it easy for you… I don’t want to count! Click Here

I tried out the Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake™ which is a specialty dessert in the menu which has Layers and Layers of Fudge Cake with Chocolate Truffle Cream and Chocolate Mousse (I know its too much! :P) A really good chocolate lover will love this just the way he/she loves the “Death By Chocolate” of the Corner House at Bangalore!

The Menu otherwise is exquisite and covers Salads, Pastas, Specialty Lunches, Sea Food, Sandwiches, Eggs & Omelettes and specialty brunch menus on Sundays. Of course, when it comes to Cheesecakes, they have a special one for the day ( I can recall it was Chocolate with mint chip cheesecake the day I was there)

The restaurant on the whole is a well decorated and beautifully lit portion with half open cabins and china cutlery (Definitely an amazing choice to take someone out for a date). The restaurant has valet parking facility for free and coming to the main part, the service. You all would expect gorgeous women working there and serving your table! Nope, for the majority, there are just the male waiters. There are a few good looking waitresses there who I don’t know if they will serve you or not. Because they have a system, you cannot simply go in and have a seat and expect to be served. You have to check in and a waiter/waitress will be assigned to you. The hospitality is really top class and you will be tempted to tip close to a 15%. With a restaurant like this you would expect the crowd to be Posh and mostly filled with executive people. But I could spot a mixed crowd of all categories there.

The Cheesecake Factory is an excellent idea of a weekend dinner hang out with friends or a dinner/lunch date or simply if you want to have the best desserts! This is one restaurant I would definitely go back for as many times I can!

New blog!

During the process of dissection of a poor grilled chicken, a thunderbolt hit me(Smirk all you want vegetarians :P). Why not start a blog on one of my favourite subjects? Why not get everyone who I know, that shares a similar view on food to contribute. This idea gave birth to this blog. So henceforth, I shall ramble on here as well, along with some other folk. namely My cousin Pranesh. Actually, for now, its just the two of us. :D.
